Specialization and Research Interests
Professor Saldivar began her career as a stage director in Chicago, Illinois, working with various homegrown non-union theatres. Shortly after arriving in Chicago in 1986, Blind Parrot Productions became her artistic home and allowed her opportunites to perform and direct in productions of Strindberg, Len Jenkins and other contemporary playwrights. She worked with international artists such as Marie Irene Fornes and served as Director of Project Development where she instituted varous original works. Along with her theatre work, Professor Saldivar worked as assistant producer on various radio commericals, Production Manager on the 1987 Off-Off Loop Theatre Festival, and a freelancer for various productions. Upon coming to Wisconsin, Professor Saldivar worked as a Resident Director and Artistic Administrator for Milwaukee Repertory Theatre. During her time with Milwaukee Rep she served as director for numerous productions that included Midwestern and National premieres. As Artistic Administrator she sereved as Co-Director of the Internship Program that brought you actors, directors and dramaturgs to Milwaukee Rep. She served as casting director and assisted in coordinatin creative teams.
